Backboard/Water Challenge

Why in the world would I be pouring water over the head of our friend Wendy? And more importantly, why would she be standing there allowing me to do so?

Well, it’s all part of a challenge Alex Malarkey came up with to try to raise awareness of some, and I mean some of the challenges that individuals who are paralyzed (quadriplegic) face.

After being paralyzed for over 21 years Alex knows a wee bit about the challenges. 

How would it feel to have water, sweat, tears, snot on your face and you are not able to wipe it yourself?

What if you had to depend on someone else’s hands to wipe your face? 

How does it feel after a few minutes, five minutes, or 10 as Alex planned for the challenge?

Pretty tough.
