Reminder Picture

This is one of my “reminder pictures.”

It is the kind of picture that, after some time has passed following a major life event, lets you look back and remember where you have been and what God has brought you through.

In the background, Ryan is in the crib, playing with his toes and happy as a lark. Aaron is all smiles, eating his corn dog and playing Candy Land — love that game. Grace is content with her thumb, and Alex is there in his chair.

This picture would have been taken in 2005.

At that time, Alex still could not swallow, so he received tube feedings only. You can see his puffy arms, which could happen with tube feeds. Alex also still had a manual wheelchair. It was not really a good fit for him, but it worked.

Life really is a journey.
