A video of Alex's first standing frame....

The following is a slideshow of pictures of Alex standing in a sit-to-stand standing frame.

We had to buy his first standing frame off eBay because we could not find a doctor willing to sign a prescription for one, even though medical evidence showed how important it is for individuals who are paralyzed to bear weight through their bones to help slow bone density loss. That is even more important for children, whose bones are still growing and maturing.

Alex was able to stand very well until his spine began to curve as he grew and his muscles could no longer support his spine. That began to advance sometime in 2008, and he eventually had spine surgery in December 2009.

The other person in this video is a dear lady named Wendy Evans. Wendy is Alex’s physical therapist and has been with us since Alex first came home in 2005. She has been through so much with us.

I hope to put together many more videos to capture the story of our lives as seen from my view. I want to arrange the pictures in a way that preserves them for my children, so they can remember the good things that came through the toughness of this journey. I also hope to share them with others in a way that shows hope.

We have had many laughs, even though sometimes those laughs came only after many tears.

God bless the people who have truly been there with us through this. Their names are not well known, but their impact is deeply felt.

Wendy is one of them.

Side note…I put the wrong date at the start of the video. The pictures are from 2006 not 2007.
